Wendy Jiménez has been a Registered Dietitian for 17 years and recently became a Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist. Currently residing and practicing in San Diego, Wendy is able to provide education and support to people living with diabetes through individual counseling, group classes and telehealth! As a graduate of CSULA, Wendy began her professional career in food safety, performing kitchen audits and creating menus for the Senior Lunch program. Her interest in community nutrition continued for approximately nine years while she worked for the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program. The WIC program even took her overseas to Okinawa, Japan. It was during this time, her father was diagnosed with diabetes and upon her return, she decided to take on the adult population and focus more on chronic disease education and prevention. Throughout the years, Wendy has been involved in the development of several education materials to include a Diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) program, curriculum, trainings/classes and performance outcomes. She really enjoys working with people with diabetes one-on-one and enabling them, with the confidence, to manage their diabetes through healthy lifestyle choices. Personal Life She volunteers at her church’s youth ministry and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, in particular going on walks with her son and dog “Shadow”.
